To mark Open Data Day 2026, the Open Knowledge Foundation hosted an online conference The Future of Open Data bringing together the global open data community. The event celebrated two decades of CKAN, a pioneering platform developed through OKFN that now powers data portals worldwide.
The conference also explored the evolving role of open data and data infrastructures in today’s rapidly changing technical and political landscape. It brought together participants from government, civil society, journalism, and research communities to discuss challenges, innovations, and the future direction of open data.
